  15. Alvin Otis (A.O.) Smith

    Alvin Otis (A.O.) Smith, 85 passed away quietly October 30, 2011. He was born in Gunter, Texas on April 10, 1926.  He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II on the U.S.S Iowa.  A.O. married Gwendolyn Cox, October 27, 1950.   He graduated from North Texas State Teachers College and taught elementary school for several years.  In 1956 he began his career at Bell Helicopter. He traveled extensively for Bell, spending time in Saigon, South Vietnam and Tehran, Iran.  He retired after 30 years in 1986. After retirement he became a Director at Point Bank of Pilot Point. He became a deacon in the First Baptist Church of Argyle, Texas and served on many committees.  He also served as President of the Argyle Chamber of Commerce and was active in Argyle School Board elections. He loved people and was admired and respected by those that knew him.
