  19. Ret. Lt. Col. Harry C. May, 90, of Pacific Grove, Calif.

    Ret. Lt. Col. Harry C. May, USAF,&nbsp; 90, of Pacific Grove, Calif., passed away in Monterey, Calif., on Tuesday Sept. 20, 2011. Born July 9, 1921, Harry was the son of Orlo and Eva (Sechler) May, originally of Markleton, and brother of the late Earl May of Chicago. After growing up in Chicago, Harry joined the Army Air Corps immediately after Pearl Harbor and became an instructor pilot in the central valley of California. He subsequently served 24 combat missions in World War II as a B-29 airplane commander in the Pacific.&nbsp; Following the post-war years as a pilot for United Airlines, he returned to the Air Force as a career officer. After retiring from the military, he spent over 16 years on the staff at Ohio State University and while in campus planning played an important role in completing several new academic buildings and satellite campuses. Harry will be deeply missed by his loving wife the former Betty Romesburg of 64 years, son Randy May and daughter-in-law Carol Greenstreet, all of Pacific Grove.&nbsp; Friends received 6 to 8 p.m. Friday Sept. 30 at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home in Somerset, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m.&nbsp; Saturday, Oct. 1, with the Rev. James Monticue officiating. Interment at the Kingwood IOOF Cemetery.&nbsp; Military graveside rites accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard.&nbsp; www.haugerzeigler.com
