5. Hagar Off Hook For Lawsuit

<span style="font-size: small;">A judge has dismissed a defamation lawsuit against Sammy Hagar filed by a woman who claims the Red Rocker fathered her child. U.S. District judge Linda Reade ruled Hagar did not defame the woman – known only as Jane Doe in court documents – when he accused her in his 2011 autobiography, Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock, of untruthfully naming him as her baby’s father in an attempt to extort money. The former Playboy bunny alleges she and Hagar had an affair in the 80s and she became pregnant.

  9. Man Arrested For Taking Too Many Free Samples

<span style="font-size: small;">Is gluttony against the law? A 68-year-old Minnesota man who was arrested for taking too many free samples from a supermarket has filed a civil rights lawsuit. Retiree Erwin Lingitz says the 2010 arrest violated his civil rights. Responding to the suit, Supervalu Inc. says Lingitz was a serial offender with a habit of helping himself lavishly to trays of free cookies put out for children. On the day of his arrest, he was found to have almost a pound of beef stick and more than half a pound of summer sausage in his pockets. Supervalu’s lawyer, Robyn Johnson, says the store manager “observed plaintiff filling plastic produce bags with the samples or with 10-20 cookies from the kids' cookie club tray, which specifically limits the offer to one free cookie per child." In 2011 a judge said the charges against Lingitz would be dropped if he avoided further legal trouble for a year. The case was dismissed in 2012. But not being one to let his meat loaf, Lingitz is now suing, claiming the food offered was free and as his wife told a local newspaper “you can’t arrest somebody for thievery if it’s free.”

  11. Judge Fines Himself For Contempt

<span style="font-size: small;">A judge in Michigan broke his own rule! Judge Raymond Voet found himself in contempt of court after his own cellphone went off in the middle of a trial! During closing arguments, Voet accidentally tapped against the screen of his Windows smartphone, triggering its voice commands. "It started talking really loud, saying 'I can't understand you. Say something like Mom,'" the red-faced judge said. He insisted on treating himself the same as he would anyone else who violated the cell phone rule - he fined himself $25 for contempt of court. "If I cannot live by the rules that I enforce," Voet said, "then I have no business enforcing these rules." Seems fair to us!

  13. Blake Shelton Wins "The Voice" Again

<span style="font-size: small;">Blake Shelton is the reigning champ of NBC’s The Voice, as his team took home the winning title for a second consecutive season. Both “Team Blake” members - Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott – were announced as the Top 2 finalists, beating “Team Cee Lo” contestant, Nicholas David. It was Cassadee who was crowned The Voice, after singing Faith Hill’s “Cry,” during the finals. Blake couldn’t be happier to shine light on new artists like Cassadee, and he does not take his position as a judge for granted. “How many people would love to stand up here talking about the stuff I’m talking about and every time I sit in one of those chairs – and see those people on that stage that want this. It’s humbling you know? It’s good for ya.” Blake will be back to judge the next season of The Voice along with Adam Levine. The show will introduce two new judges, as Shakira and Usher replace Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green.
