  7. Charges Filed In Billy Currington Stage Collapse

    In 2006, the stage at the <em>Big Valley Jamboree</em> in Alberta, Canada collapsed during Billy Currington&rsquo;s performance. Billy suffered a minor concussion, while his bassist Alex Stevens was pinned under the wreckage for a half-hour. In total, 75 people were injured and 35-year-old Donna Moore lost her life. Now, according to <em>Bloomberg Businessweek</em>, <em>Premiere Global Production</em>, which was in charge of the stage and event organizer, <em>Panhandle Productions</em>, are facing 27 charges for failing to ensure the health and safety of workers. Additionally, <em>Premiere</em> faces two more charges for failing to ensure that the stage could withstand inclement weather. The companies involved are due in court September 28<sup>th</sup> and could face a penalty exceeding $500-thousand and/or six months in prison for each charge.

  15. John Rich Heads To Apprentice Finals!

    <span style=&quot;line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial', 'sans-serif'; font-size: 14pt;">John Rich</span><span style="line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 14pt;"> and Marlee Matlin are going head to head as the <em>Celebrity Apprentice</em> finalists. After a brief celebration between the top two on Sunday night&rsquo;s episode, Donald Trump was quick to deliver their final task, create a campaign for <em>7UP Retro</em>. John and Marlee were allowed to pick from a selection of former <em>Apprentice </em>finalists from this season to create their team. Marlee picked Meat Loaf, Richard Hatch and La Toya Jackson for her team, while John Rich chose Lil Jon, Star Jones and Mark McGrath. The teams went straight to work designing a can and producing their commercials. John is serious about winning, with a lot of money on the line for his charity.&nbsp;<em> &ldquo;I mean, this is a crazy, crazy show and the reason I want to have a shot at winning it is &lsquo;cause you get 250-thousand more dollars for your charity if you win. Being able to play for St. Jude is&hellip;I don&rsquo;t know that I&rsquo;ve ever done anything better in my life. Really proud to be that ambassador and be the guy sluggin&rsquo; it out for them.&rdquo;</em> Next week, the teams present their campaigns to the <em>7UP </em>executives and a winner will be revealed during a live board-room finale. <em>Celebrity Apprentice</em> airs Sunday night at 9PM Eastern on <em>NBC</em>.</span>

In the two-hour live finale on <em>NBC</em> Sunday night, the outcome of John and competitor Marlee Matlin&rsquo;s final task was shown. Both stars created spectacular events showcasing <em>7UP Retro</em> and both impressed the <em>7UP </em>executives. John says winning <em>Celebrity Apprentice</em> is all about how you play the game. <em>&ldquo;You had to keep your head in the game and you had to be thinking forward and not become a victim of that game. You had to make that game work for you.&rdquo; </em>During the finale, John and Marlee came together for a performance of John&rsquo;s &ldquo;For The Kids,&rdquo; a song he wrote and made available on <em>iTunes</em> to benefit <em>St. Jude Children&rsquo;s Research Hospital</em>.&nbsp; <em>&ldquo;It is the answer to the question, &lsquo;Why did you do Celebrity Apprentice,&rsquo; for that performance. Give me a chance to get in front of 30-million people and sing a song about St. Jude and give you an opportunity to go click a button and go put a dollar, twenty-nine in their pocket. That&rsquo;s why I did the show.&rdquo;</em> John raised an extra 275-thousand dollars during his last task and picked up 250-thousand for being picked as the <em>Apprentice</em>. Combined with money raised throughout the season, the Big &amp; Rich star raked in well over a million for <em>St. Jude</em>.</span>
