15. David Beckham says goodbye to L.A.

Soccer great (and underwear designer/model) David Beckham is saying goodbye to fans in Los Angeles. He's leaving his gig with the L.A. Galaxy after Saturday's MLS championship game. But my bet is he keeps turning up in underwear ads. After all, who can forget the giant-sized images of Beckham in his briefs and boxers that were projected on the White Cliffs of Dover last summer during the Olympics? <a href="http://www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/la-sp-david-beckham-20121129,0,7060700.story">[Los Angeles Times]

  17. Apocalypse when now? Doomsday enthusiasts are still holding out hope

Well, 12:01 a.m. came and went (even in Mayan Time, otherwise known as Central Time) and nothing really happened. Although Annapolis was plunged into darkness and bathed in an eerie blue light, BGE assures us it wasn't apocalypse-related. Pessimists are still holding out hope though, guessing maybe it will happen at the end of long day's work right before your Christmas vacation starts.

  19. Obama's second inauguration a mark of progress in its own right

  21. Wal-Mart promises to add $50 billion in American-made merchandise

Wal-Mart has promised to add $50 billion in American-made merchandise to its offerings over the next 10 years. The promise comes amid criticism of the company's overseas sources using cheap labor, as well as a fatal fire in a Bangladesh factory that made clothing for retailers including Wal-Mart. (And, incidentally, the retailer is also facing protest, such as the one pictured above, over its sales of assault weapons and ammunition.) And there's more: Wal-Mart says it will hire any honorably discharged U.S. military veteran who wants a job within 12 months of his or her discharge date. The company expects to hire 100,000 vets over the next five years. <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/wal-mart-says-buy-more-u-goods-add-141415846--sector.html">[Yahoo]

Ahmed Dogan, leader of Bulgaria’s Liberal Movement For Rights and Freedoms, was attacked by a 25-year old gunman while giving a press conference over the weekend.
