Contrary to what Sheryl Crow sings, the first cut is not the deepest. The last cut is. Cleaning out my parents' former home of almost 50 years involved a rough and ruthless week of letting go of a lifetime of home furnishings. What's left is the pyramid...

What our museums lack in size, they make up for in creativity
What our museums lack in size, they make up for in creativity, moxie and searching the world for excellent exhibitions that may be just a little too small for some of the behemoths in larger cities. The Mennello Museum of American Art in Orlando and...

11. 'Like Someone in Love' a Tokyo story of love and lies ★★★ 1/2

In "Certified Copy," from Iranian writer-director Abbas Kiarostami, a relationship blossoms and then fades under the Tuscan sun, though the story keeps changing its rules of engagement. The couple at the center, we presume, are strangers getting to know each other, but halfway through the exquisite riddle of a picture they "become" (or pretend to become) husband and wife.

13. Looking at Picasso from Chicago's angle

The funny thing is, Pablo Picasso never even set foot in Chicago, let alone anywhere else in the United States.
The funny thing is, Pablo Picasso never even set foot in Chicago, let alone anywhere else in the United States. That untitled 50-foot-tall sculpture in Daley Plaza, the city's most iconic piece of public art as well as Picasso's only work of its kind?...

15. Hotel Lincoln's Wall of Bad Art: 'You are looking at awesomeness'

The Wall of Bad Art at the Hotel Lincoln, the newly renovated boutique hotel in Lincoln Park at the corner of Wealthy and Twee, is a monument to iffy talent and questionable taste. It is a reminder of how bad art can get funneled through wood-paneled rec rooms and yard sales and come out the other end as good taste, warm memories and enduring charm.

17. Former Patterson Park High no 'cookie-cutter property'

The project manager at the former Patterson Park High School in Highlandtown stood atop a roof terrace and said, "This is not a cookie-cutter property." That's an understatement.

23. Lead-content warning in Whitehall confuses motorists

Q: I am wondering if you have looked into the signs that have been posted about not breathing or disturbing the dust around the construction area of the Hokendauqua-North Catasauqua Bridge in Whitehall Township. What exactly is going to come off that bridge that is so toxic? Also, are they shutting down the Ironton Rail Trail at the bridge? I use the trail frequently for jogging or biking, but I think I'll be avoiding it now, as I wouldn't want to be inhaling anything toxic while I'm exercising!
