13. Art, music, food at expo

It's hard to believe that the Orlando Downtown Art & Living Expo will be seven years old this weekend. It seems like yesterday when I attended the first show near the Lake Eola Park bandshell. This ever-growing outdoor show now takes up the eastern end of the park AND is spilling over onto Robinson Street (where you'll find the juried Madonnari competition). Madonnari are street painters who transform streets and sidewalks into art masterpieces with colored chalk, a tradition dating to the 16th century in Italy. There also will be 200 artists and craftsmen, street performers, children's activities, food and concerts. The free event is Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
