7. Where celebrities stay in Baltimore

In June, when Sade was preparing to kick off her first tour in more than a decade, the husky-voiced crooner tweeted about her love of Baltimore and entertained reporters while relaxing in her 2,100-square-foot suite at the Hotel Monaco. When in town, actor Gene Hackman has been known to chat up other guests at the bar in the Radisson Hotel at Cross Keys.

  13. Like/Dislike with Wendel Patrick, music producer

Calling Wendel Patrick multi-talented is an understatement. The 39-year-old Baltimore resident usually has a Fender Rhodes keyboard, two turntables, effects processors and a microphone for beat boxing and vocal percussion at his shows.

  17. Baltimore's crime paradox

A hard truth about being Baltimore's mayor is that there is almost never a good time to declare progress. Whenever there is good news to report, it will almost inevitably collide with a fresh tragedy.

  21. Drone keeps eye, and lens, on Baltimore sights

During the Patterson Park pagoda's 120 years of existence, it has been photographed, painted and otherwise rendered too many times to count. But never in all that time did anyone depict the landmark the way Terry and Belinda Kilby just did.

  23. A hopeful return for the Grand Prix

The fact that the Baltimore Grand Prix happened at all — much less that it went smoothly — is remarkable and a testament to the professional management its new organizers brought to the event. Race On LLC and Andretti Sports Marketing took over management about 100 days before the race, and many — including this editorial page — questioned whether they could pull it off in that time.
