Bush pioneered this inaugural event in 2005, according to the Presidential Inaugural Committee 2009, and Barack Obama will continue the tradition of honoring active-duty and reserve military. Spouses of deployed troops, families of those who died in action and Purple Heart recipients also are among those being honored.<br>

Tickets are free by invitation only; it's not open to the public. The ball begins at 6 p.m.
