SOUTH BEND – A 16-year-old boy who was shot last week in the 1100 block of California Street died Saturday morning, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

On April 6, just after 1 a.m., Kenneth Horton was walking down the street with two others when they were fired upon from a vehicle described to police as a black, boxy four-door car of an unknown make or model.  

Horton was shot in the hip and the bullet traveled up his abdomen. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died on Saturday, April 14.

The second victim, a 19-year-old man, was treated and released from the hospital.

The third person was uninjured.

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating. No suspects have been taken into custody.
