SYRACUSE – Police say an adult and juvenile were arrested soon after a Sunday-morning stabbing near Papakeechie Lake in Syracuse that left a man in serious condition.
Officers responding to a 911 call about the stabbing found the victim, 24-year-old Tyler James Niles, covered in blood and lying in the front yard of a location in the 9700 block of East Bald Eagle Drive, Syracuse, in the Papakeechie Estates Addition.
Niles had a stab wound to his neck, say police. He was transported to Goshen General Hospital and later transferred to Memorial in serious condition.
There were several other people at the scene say police. Witnesses pointed out two suspects who were immediately arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon – Scott Daniel Koontz, 20, of Syracuse and a 17-year-old male juvenile.
The 17-year-old is being held at The Woods Juvenile Center in Pierceton. He has a detention hearing set for Monday afternoon. Koontz is being held on $5,000 bond.
