It's a case that has members of Indiana's General Assembly considering changes to the state's Department of Child Service.

Thursday morning a South Bend grandmother accused of not reporting abuse that led to her grandson's death returned to court.

Tramelle Sturgis, 10, died last November. In May a jury convicted his dad Terry Sturgis of beating him to death.

Terry Sturgis’ mother, Delia Castille is accused of neglect for not reporting the abuse. Castile lived in the home where the beating happened.

Her attorneys wanted her to sit in on the depositions that were taking place before her trial. But Thursday morning in court the judge said the depositions of children involved in this case are over, so she won't sit in on them.

Castile's trial is set for October.
