ELKHART COUNTY -- A string of burglaries has neighbors nervous.
In the last month, police said seven homes in Elkhart County and four homes in LaGrange County have been targete...and police think they may be connected.
Victims said mostly cash and credit cards were stolen - that's the common theme among all of the burglaries.
Neighbors who were not hit are worried the thief or thieves might come back - this time, to their home.
It's quiet and quaint along County Road 43 but these homes are suddenly vulnerable.
"You never know what's going to happen," said LeEtta Hochstetler.
She lives on County Road 43. This is home. This place is safe.
But the sudden slew of burglaries in the neighborhood is weighing on her.
"They never entered here, but it still could happen," she said.
Houses on either side of her home have been targeted - six total on County Road 43 within 10 miles of one another.
Even though she locks her doors and closes her windows, she's concerned her family could be next.
"You just hope it doesn't happen," Hochstetler said.
Police said a majority of the burglaries are taking place in the early morning hours, specifically on Sundays.
"It's somebody that knows we go to church on Sunday," she said.
LeEtta says that's one possibility - but she's observed another similarity among the ones closer to her home.
"All the places that had vehicles outside, it appears they never entered, but wherever there were no vehicles sitting, they entered," she said.
Police have a person of interest – but no arrests have been made.
