SOUTH BEND – We now know the date work will start on the Michigan Street bridge next week.
The Indiana Department of Transportation expects to start rehabbing the bridge on Wednesday. This is the main bridge into and out of downtown from the north.
INDOT workers will be repairing cracks found last summer on the bridge.
The plan is to close one lane in each direction, not the entire bridge. They will also close East and West Northshore Drive at the intersection with 933.
The work isn't expected to be done until September.
