SOUTH BEND – Emergency crews had to act fast in South Bend to contain a fire believed to have been started by fireworks.

Police say kids were setting off fireworks Tuesday night in the area of a Dollar General parking lot on Hickory Road.

Minutes later, the fire began to move towards neighboring homes, so firefighters had to move fast to put out the flames before they spread.

No one was injured.

Police say the kids suspected of setting off the fireworks ran away before emergency crews arrived.
