GRANGER – A fire broke out in a field near the Toll Road around 8:30 p.m. Friday. It spread quickly and made it to the other side of the fence separating it from Main Street Village Apartments.
People there took matters into their own hands, trying to stop the fire before it got to their homes.
No buildings were damaged and no one was hurt.
Firefighters say it was likely started by a discarded cigarette.
