A Starke County Jail inmate who escaped Wednesday, May 23 has turned himself in "after realizing that he would eventually be caught," according to police.
Joshua Hunnicutt escaped about 4 p.m. Wednesday, possibly by means of his girlfriend Rachel Berdine, who was waiting for him near the jail. Hunnicutt was arrested for an active warrant for possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance.
Hunnicutt turned himself in around 12:50 p.m. Sunday. He said he had made a poor decision and said that he doesn't even remember what all happened prior to escaping.
He is being held in Starke County Jail on his original charges and a new charge of escape. The prosecutor's office will review the case for any additional charges.
