Tagging is "getting old" says resident Kammi Pantoja, whose property was tagged by spray-painting graffitists last summer and again this week.
Pantoja’s not alone.
Elkhart Police say more than 20 homes were tagged this week. Graffitists weren’t discriminating … they targeted houses, fences and garages.
Hard-hit areas included Frances, Roys and Stevens avenues.
Homeowner Terry Williams’ noticed graffiti appearing a couple weeks ago around the neighborhood, but this week’s incident is the worst he’s seen.
"It’s very frustrating that we have to live in and around this. It’s about 20 residents throughout the area that’s been tagged (this week)," Williams said. To remove the graffiti "costs us money … unnecessary money we shouldn’t have to spend because of someone else’s callousness."
If you've been tagged, there is cleanup help available from the City of Elkhart. First, however, file a police report with Elkhart Police by calling 574-295-7070. Tagging is a crime defined by state law and city ordinances.
