The Niles resident was hit while riding her bike on Kenilworth Road
last fall. And the driver did not stop.
Clear was en route that morning to her job as sewing machine repair
technician at Erica’s Craft & Sewing Center on North Ironwood Drive in
South Bend.
She got up, and though shook up, gathered part of the car’s side-view
mirror that hit her, and got back up on the bike, despite a healthy
bruise on her rear.
She’s still riding today, though, when the weather’s good.
And she has plenty of good reasons.
“I do enjoy biking,” she said. “I really like biking.
“I do get a lot of health benefits from it. It’s fun. It helps relieve
stress in spite of the stress of biking.”
And so when the weather’s about 50 degrees or above, she makes the
seven-mile trek from her family’s home to Erica’s on her well-lighted
Globe Vienna.
She participated in both Sunday’s Bike the Bend and this week’s Bike
to Work Week with her two-person team called “Not Sew Fast.”
