And not long after that crash, a driver ran into a power line on State Road 23 near the Indiana-Michigan line. He was thrown from the car and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The accident knocked out power to about 150 homes in the area.
A month ago a Michigan teenager died in an accident on the same stretch of 23 in Granger. A neighbor says bad crashes on the road are not uncommon.
“It’s been like this for years,” said Richard Crawford. “I've been living in a house 20 some years and I’ve had people killed out in front of here for ever since I’ve been here. It needs to be four lanes. Just like the rest going all the way to south bend.”
State Road 23 was shut down as crews cleaned up.
