A banner that hung from the side of the AT&T building in downtown South Bend Thursday was apparently an indication of frustration on the part of union workers.

A spokeswoman for the Communication Workers of America says their contract with AT&T expires Saturday at midnight.

The union representing some 40,000 AT&T workers in eight states says there are sticking points over health care, job security and retiree benefits.

An AT&T spokesman says the company did not authorize the banner which was removed
