A woman from Indiana who is charged in the death of her stepson has pleaded guilty to neglect of a dependent.

Kimberly Kubina entered the plea on Tuesday before Lake Criminal Court Judge Diane Boswell.
Kubina has also agreed to testify against her ex-husband Riley Choate as part of a plea deal. Under that deal, she will serve 25 to 35 years in prison when the sentence is decided.

Kubina and Choate are accused of killing Choate’s 13-year-old son, Christian, in 2009. The boy's body was found buried in a shallow grave in Colfax Mobile Home Park in Gary. Christian was reportedly beaten, deprived of food and kept in a dog cage for up to a year before his death.

The couple’s murder trial is set for August 13 2012.  A hearing for Kubina is scheduled for August 28, 2012.
