  5. Gay Albright Cole, 60, of Cumberland, Md.

    Gay Albright Cole, 60, of Cumberland, Md., crossed “the rainbow bridge” to rejoin family members and pets who are waiting there for her on Friday, May 18, 2012, at her home. Gay was born on Aug. 14, 1951, in Montgomery County, Md., the daughter of Clarence William Albright and her stepmother, Betty Albright, and her mother, Bette Ann (Howard) Olsen and her stepfather, F. Donald Olsen. She was also preceded in death by her brother Michael Albright, and a great niece, Emily Hall. Gay retired from the Allegany County Animal Shelter where she was an animal control officer for 17 years. An avid animal lover, she was a member of the Animal Welfare Society, a breeder of Golden Retrievers, a certified Palomino color breed horse judge and a member of the Mason-Dixon Saddle Club. Gay enjoyed showing her horse in local events and parades, and trail riding with friends at numerous locations including Gettysburg, Manassas and along the C&O Canal towpath. Gay is survived by her husband of 27 years, John Cole; her son, Michael Ulrich and his fiancée, Shannon Reikie; her grandchildren, Josh Ulrich, Chelsea Ulrich and Kayden Ulrich; and her great-grandchildren, Ava and Brayden. Also surviving are her sister, Denise Smearman; her brothers, Donnie Olsen and wife, Jennifer; Wade Albright and wife, Heather; and Wayne Albright and wife, Leslie; her sister-in-law, Linda Albright; her nieces, Lacey Albright and friend, Donnie Hall; Amy Clark, and Kelly Albright; her nephew, Trevor Albright; great-niece, Ariel Clark; and great-nephews, Aiden Clark and Cameron Albright. In addition, Gay is also survived by a very special aunt, Carole Ann Janney; and her beloved pets, Sonny, Honey and Pumpkin. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, Md., (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m., and on Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 12 p.m. A memorial service will also be held at the Salem United Methodist Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Brookeville, Md. In lieu of flowers, Gay requests donations be made in her memory to the Days End Farm Horse Rescue Inc., (www.defhr.org) 1372 Woodbine Road, Woodbine, MD 21797.
