    The Harrisburg connection, going strong with the Nationals. The roster, littered with former Senators. They have nothing but high praise, for their time in the capital city of PA. Steve Lombardozzi, Nationals Infielder says, "Its awesome, its a great place to play, probably one of the best parks in the Eastern League. The atmsophere is awesome." Adds Jordan Zimmerman, Nationals Pitcher, "It was awesome, loved the city, loved the ballpark. It was great."

  3. Harrisburg Opens Temporary Animal Shelter on City Island

    Harrisburg City Police has moved a temporary animal shelter  from the police garage in the downtown, MLK, JR City Government Complex to a larger facility on City Island.  The shelter is equipped with two large 'walking cages', food, water, straw and donated dog food. Animals in custody are cleaned, fed, and walked by officer volunteers, in addition to their regular duties.

  7. Stephen Strasburg Returns to City Island Thursday

    Stephen Strasburg will return to the team where his professional career started, the Harrisburg Senators.   Strasburg will start at Metro Bank Park on Thursday Night for the Senators.  It is likely his final start in the minors before returning to the Washington Nationals.    He will be on a pitch count but is expected to throw at least five innings for Harrisburg.   Strasburg has made five previous rehab starts.  His last appearance was his best as he tossed five perfect innings for Triple "AAA" Syracuse before giving up two hits to start the 6th inning.   Strasburg struck out seven hitters.

  17. Walnut Street Bridge between Harrisburg and City Island Reopened to Traffic

    Bridge inspectors for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, at about 10:45 this morning, reopened the Walnut Street Bridge over a portion of the Susquehanna River between the East Shore in the City of Harrisburg and City Island.  This is a bridge restricted to pedestrians and bicyclists and does not carry motor vehicles. The bridge had been closed as a safety precaution as the Susquehanna River level rose last week and City Island was flooded and closed.
