3. 'Un(Common) Sense' Exhibit on Display at Creative Arts Workshop Starting Aug. 3rd

At the intersection of currency and conflict, New Haven-based artist Jason Noushin presents his installation Un(Common) Sense, on display from Aug. 3-31, at the Hilles Gallery for Creative Art's Workshop in New Haven. Exploring the power and impact of money in regions of contention, specifically the Bosnian War, Noushin's installation provides a unique re-creation of conflict through the scope of a gallery window. "We are told from an early age that money is the root of all evil," says Noushin. "All immorality and wickedness can be traced back to money." Composed of drawings and sculptures made from the now useless Bosnian and Yugoslavian paper currency, Noushin's combination and symbolism of money bring to question the concept behind the duality of a nation's common united currency in the eyes of the criminals and victims of war. Visit during the opening reception on Aug. 3, from 5-6:30 p.m.
