The whirs and hisses of drills and welding torches carry outside a warehouse tucked away in a Fort Lauderdale office park. Inside, rows of step vans and delivery trucks are being reborn as food trucks.

  5. Weekend Preview: Miami Heat's Mario Chalmers to host Fort Lauderdale fundraiser Saturday

Whether in a cartoony red-and-blue Super Mario costume bouncing around the Miami Heat’s “Harlem Shake”  video or in his work clothes stepping in for a cramping LeBron James as a savior in Game 4 of last year’s NBA Finals,  the contributions of Mario Chalmers are too often overlooked.

  7. On the road, off the court: Where Bulls play

In a regular NBA season encompassing 72 games, the <a href=&quot;http://chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls">Chicago Bulls</a> will travel to 23 cities from coast to coast over the course of 51/2 months, visiting a few of those cities (New York and Los Angeles) more than once. Though they travel by private jet (except for a couple of bus trips to Milwaukee), it's a punishing schedule sleep-wise because players and coaches don't leave for their next destination until after a game. With hotel arrival times at 2 a.m. or 3 a.m., there isn't much time to explore their destinations, but players certainly have their favorite spots to land, usually related to family and warm weather.

Picture this -- blue skies, a teal sea, white sand and palm trees swaying in the cool seaside breeze. 15. Kingsley Guy: County name change makes sense

  21. Members of 1988 Irish mourn loss of teammate Dean Brown

From the back of the ambulance, Dean Brown sounded normal. The trouble he had breathing that morning was due to either a nasty cold or a respiratory infection, so he would go to the hospital, maybe get some antibiotics and get out of there. He couldn't believe he was even in the ambulance. He could have driven himself.
