1. Ravens playing time trends through 12 games

Twelve games down. Four to go. Yes, we are at another quarter pole, so let’s dig into the third quarter snap counts to see which playing time trends have developed. These official numbers, which come courtesy of the NFL, are pretty interesting due to the return of Terrell Suggs and injuries to other key Ravens players.

  7. Coffee Companion (12/5): your daily Ravens fix

Every morning, Monday through Friday, blogger Matt Vensel will hook you up with reading material -- mostly on the Ravens but with some other Baltimore sports stuff, too -- to skim through as you slug down coffee and slack off at the start of your workday. That way he’ll have an excuse to do the same to start his workday, too.

  13. Sacking Eli Manning won't be easy for Ravens

Despite injuries that have sapped the Ravens of the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Terrell Suggs and defensive end Pernell McPhee for several games, the defense has put a fair amount of pressure on opposing quarterbacks. The unit’s 32 sacks are tied for 16th in the league.

  19. Ravens' Corey Graham a surprise absentee at Wednesday's practice

The absence of inside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and tight end Ed Dickson from Wednesday’s practice isn’t shocking. But cornerback Corey Graham was also not present during the portion of practice open to the media.

  21. Jason Babin makes some sense but Ravens will have to wait it out

Jason Babin can still get after the quarterback. That, more than anything, is why after the veteran defensive end was surprisingly released by the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday, the Ravens were immediately mentioned as a potential fit.

  23. Will the Ravens change up their struggling offensive line?

It will be interesting to see this week if the Ravens make any changes along the offensive line, a group that for the most part has struggled the past couple of weeks and will be under fire again come Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The position to watch, mainly because it’s been unsettled all season, would be left guard. The Ravens have now given three different players a trial run with Ramon Harewood getting five starts, Bobbie Williams getting four and Jah Reid starting the past two games. While coaches have praised Reid, I’m not sure that he’s stood out in a positive way any more than Harewood and Williams did. Like the other two, there has been some good and some bad. Reid was a third-round pick last year so the Ravens probably have the most invested in him, but head coach John Harbaugh has been clear all season that he’s going to play his five best guys. It will be interesting to see if the coaches deem Reid one of those five for a third straight week. The Ravens could insert Harewood or Williams back in or they could plug in Bryant McKinnie at left tackle, move Michael Oher to right tackle and then shift Kelechi Osemele to left guard. That would be a pretty drastic transformation for a 9-2 team, especially when there have been no indications that McKinnie is forcing their hands with his play in practice.
