1. Goldberg: The false modesty of 'nerds'

Washington is full of nerds. I know. I speak nerd, not fluently mind you, at least not anymore. But I certainly know more than a few phrases memorized from a Berlitz nerd-to-English phrase book. I can talk Dungeons & Dragons (both D&D and AD&D). I know about the Golden Age of Comics (as in comic books -- if you thought that was a reference to Bob Newhart's heyday, subtract 20 nerd points right there).

  5. Game vs. Cortland to serve as measuring stick for Stevenson

Wednesday night’s 7-5 victory over York helped No. 9 Stevenson improve to 5-1 with the lone loss occurring last Saturday against No. 4 Lynchburg. The Mustangs figure to get a stiffer test this Saturday when they must travel and meet No. 3 Cortland....

  13. Five Things We Learned in the Ravens 20-13 playoff win over the Texans

    1. There is nothing wrong with conceding that Ed Reed and Ray Lewis aren't the players they once were. I don't even think that statement is really all that controversial. No man can outrun the steady march of time, not even the two greatest defensive players of this era. But in a way, I'm more fascinated watching Reed and Lewis now than I was when they were both in their prime. Because they're both still capable of conjuring up a little magic. There is something admirable about watching a great lion dig deep and mount one final, furious charge. Perfection is unnecessary. All that matters is that you live to fight another day.
