5. Mike Preston: Ravens need to return training camp to Westminster

Instead of giving Ravens fans the game ball, head coach John Harbaugh should give them training camp in Westminster, Md. again.Harbaugh made a nice gesture after Saturday's win against Cleveland, and he presented fans with a game ball. He said the ball would be on display over at The Castle. The presentation was made to the fans because the Ravens finished the 2011 season undefeated at home.I'm sure fans appreciate this honor even though Harbaugh alienated quite a few of them when the Ravens announced several weeks ago they weren't going to have training camp in Westminster any longer. But if he really wanted to show how much he appreciates them he should re-open training camp in Westminster. According to Ravens president Dick Cass, it's not a money issue but a convience issue.Well, the Ravens sell out every game in Baltimore and they travel well. M&T Bank Stadium is also one of the loudest in the NFL. To put training camp back in Westminster might be the biggest tribute the Ravens could pay the fans.It basically comes down to Harbaugh. If he wants training camp in Westminster, he gets it. It is deserved.A game ball is nice, but training camp is where the game in this city becomes generational. Fans comes from different states. They plan their vacation time around training camp. Memories are made there.A game ball? How about handing Baltimore back its tradition.

  7. Like/dislike: Nick Prevas

Nick Prevas is truly an “artist of all trades.” The 30-year-old Charles Village resident writes and directs films, works on graphic design projects, plays guitar and sings in the band White Lodge. He even handles communications and media for the American Visionary Arts Museum. Originally from Highland, Prevas tells b that there’s no place he’d rather be than Baltimore: “There’s just an energy to our city like no place else. I lived in L.A. for a few years and couldn’t ever get the vibe there like I can in Charm City. There’s no pretense (most of the time), you can connect with genuinely creative and talented people and there’s some weird inspiration I get from living here that just can’t be put down in words.” Through that inspiration, Prevas creates film shorts and music videos that have been shown at festivals and galleries across the country. Most recently, he co-produced a video of artist Scott Weaver showing his 100,000+ toothpick sculpture, “Rolling Through the Bay,” which you can see looping in AVAM’s current exhibition “All Things Round.” On Saturday, Prevas will perform with White Lodge at the Windup Space in a tribute to Tom Waits. Here, he talks to us about Soul Cannon (who he created album art for), his dislike for romantic comedies and the ambiguity of fanny packs.

On Sunday, Clayworks will be teaching a workshop as part of Free Fall Baltimore. The session includes “Storybooks Come to Life,” “Wings, Fangs and Things” and “Hold it: Make a Good Container.” Here, Ramey talks to b about AVAM, bargain shopping and his biggest source of inspiration.
