1. Coffee Companion (11/26): your daily Ravens fix

Every morning, Monday through Friday, blogger Matt Vensel will hook you up with reading material -- mostly on the Ravens but with some other Baltimore sports stuff, too -- to skim through as you slug down coffee and slack off at the start of your workday. That way he’ll have an excuse to do the same to start his workday, too.

5. Tom Z's Highly Unethical College Football Gambling Picks: Week 13

Because it's Thanksgiving week and most people (including myself) are on vacation right now, I'm going to keep my column short this week. Here are my picks, along with some brief analysis. My usual brilliant wit and humor may be somewhat lacking this...

9. Football: Mater Dei tries its luck again against Santa Margarita

Varsity Times Insider
A lot of people forget that in 2011, when Santa Margarita won the Pac-5 Division championship and the CIF state championship Division I bowl game, the Eagles were beaten by Santa Ana Mater Dei, 21-14, in a Trinity League game......

11. What does FSU QB EJ Manuel have to do to win the Heisman?

Chopping Block - Seminoles Blog - Orlando Sentinel
The question posed above is one CBS Sports Heisman Trophy pundit Chris Huston attempted to answer in this blog from Thursday. It's definitely worth a read. His larger point is one to seriously ponder. Florida State hasn't unveiled a Heisman campaign since...

13. Ravens set franchise record for points in dominant win over Raiders

There was Ray Rice going untouched for a 7-yard touchdown run. Torrey Smith sprinting free behind the Oakland Raiders’ defense and connecting with Joe Flacco for a 47-yard score. And punter/holder Sam Koch encountering very little resistance during his 7-yard touchdown scamper on a fake field goal.

The pressure mounted. The game was on the line.
The pressure mounted. The game was on the line. A struggling Raiders franchise wasn't accustomed to the drama, not after losing 13 consecutive games to the division-rival Chargers. But something was different when the teams met in the fifth game of the...

19. Ravens news, notes and opinions

As we await a week filled with speculation about Ben Roethlisberger’s playing status for Sunday’s AFC North showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, it’s pretty remarkable that the latest chapter in this rivalry could be played without Roethlisberger, Hines Ward and Ray Lewis on the field. It will be the first time since the final game of the 2007 regular season when none of the three have been in the game. That day, Lewis was sidelined with hand and back injuries while Roethlisberger and Ward were rested for the playoffs. That being said, I think it would be foolish to count out Roethlisberger from this game until Steelers coach Mike Tomlin officially declares him out. I think we’ve all seen this movie before with Roethlisberger to jump to any conclusions.

Buried in the leftover rubble and next to the carcass of the Oakland Raiders at M&T Bank Stadium is a concern that won't go away. The Ravens' pass coverage still scares me. They blew out the Raiders 55-20 Sunday in their most impressive game of the...

What's the sound when perfection goes poof?
What's the sound when perfection goes poof? Sunday, it was a thud, as New Orleans cornerback Jabari Greer batted away a fourth-down pass by the Atlanta Falcons, who were two yards away from a touchdown that would have kept them undefeated. From 8-0 to 9...
