  1. Early Preakness forecast calls for sun, highs around 80 degrees

The 138th Preakness Stakes has come into the 10-day forecast window, and the early outlook is looking (mostly) ideal -- sunny skies with highs around 80 degrees.

  3. No word on whether screamin' Tom Brady will show up for Preakness

By now you've surely seen the video, below, of Tom Brady getting super, duper excited about Orb winning the Kentucky Derby. In it, he runs over to congratulate Ogden Phipps II, son of co-owner Ogden Mills "Dinny" Phipps. I'm not sure how they know each...

  7. Horsemen search for deals at post-Preakness sale

On the Wednesday and Thursday before the Preakness, as excitement built for the middle jewel of the Triple Crown,<strong> </strong>many trainers and owners slipped away from <a href=&quot;http://findlocal.baltimoresun.com/pimlico/home/na/pimlico-race-course-baltimore-venue">Pimlico Race Course</a> and drove eight miles north on Interstate 83 to look a year into the future.

  9. Sun's Derby/Preakness coverage was top notch

Kudos to The Sun for the abundant coverage of horse racing during the lead up to the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. It's been a lot of years since The Sun has provided that level of coverage. While the number of stories has been high, the quality of the articles was equally as strong, particularly those written by <a href=&quot;http://bio.tribune.com/ChrisKorman">Chris Korman</a>. He uncovered angles and stories that made for compelling reading and were hard to put down. Ditto the ones written by <a href="http://bio.tribune.com/JeanMarbella">Jean Marbella</a> and <a href="http://bio.tribune.com/ChildsWalker">Childs Walker</a>. The Maryland horse racing industry is on the upswing. My hope is that The Sun continues to increase its coverage of this important industry in our state.

  13. Triple Crown: Impossible dream?

After Kentucky Derby winner Orb finished in fourth place at the Preakness, we are on the longest drought ever for a Triple Crown winner (&quot;Lukas kept prediction to himself: Oxbow," May 20). The last time a horse won a Triple Crown was Affirmed in 1978.
