3. Ohio State, Wichita State vie to be best in the . . . West?

Some West Regional final this turned out to be. The closest school left, Wichita State, is located 1,380 miles from epicenter court at Staples Center.
Some West Regional final this turned out to be. The closest school left, Wichita State, is located 1,380 miles from epicenter court at Staples Center. Ohio State in the NCAA West makes as much sense as Dallas in the NFC East. That is not to say...

7. For What it's Worth: Friday at the MVC Tourney

Illinois State has to feel a little ripped off. Here they are hosting this event and they’ve been delayed an hour and a half in primetime for their game on Wednesday, then had 53 degree temperatures for their start last night. Crowds have been minimal at a time when a very good team should have been featured.

9. NCAA favorites, that's you Arizona and Gonzaga, better be on alert

SALT LAKE CITY -- Arizona is thrilled to be playing Harvard on Saturday on its way to next week's West regional in Los Angeles.
SALT LAKE CITY -- Arizona is thrilled to be playing Harvard on Saturday on its way to next week's West regional in Los Angeles. No one can say that, but it's only human Tucson nature. Wanting to play No. 14 instead of No. 3 to reach the Sweet 16 is a...

11. LVC-MVC matchups headline District 11 baseball semifinals

Whitehall and Parkland have spent much of this season sitting at or near the top of The Morning Call's baseball rankings. The Zephyrs and Trojans will have to beat the Mountain Valley Conference's best to set up a fourth meeting with one another. Pocono...

13. For What it's Worth: Thursday at the MVC Baseball Tourney

The funniest thing I’ve seen at the Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Tournament: The grounds crew using old couch cushions to soak up the water in the outfield. Talk about necessity being the mother of invention.

15. Little Southern comfort for No. 1 Gonzaga

SALT LAKE CITY — What a sight it was seeing Gonzaga star center Kelly Olynyk consoling a distraught opponent who fell just short of pulling off one of the great upsets in NCAA tournament history. Southern guard Derick Beltran was bent over at half...

Of course the baseball game that I was doing last night went 15 innings finishing just shy of midnight before a 6 a.m. flight, it's either Murphy's Law or March Madness.

21. For What it's Worth: At the Valley Baseball Tournament

It seems trivial to be talking about sports when friends and neighbors have had their lives blown all around the plains. The devastation in Oklahoma is staggering—it affects Kansans so profoundly because we live with the knowledge that it has been us and, living where we do, that it will be us again sometime in the future.
