  1. Hokies Fall on Road to Miami

Virginia Tech couldn't pull of its second ACC win in a row Thursday night, falling 65-49 at Miami.  The Hokies trailed by 8 at halftime and by double digits most of the second half before cutting it to 5 with 7 and a half minutes left.  But the Hurricanes closed the game on an 18 to 7 run.  Erick Green was the only Hokie to reach double figures with 17 points.  Seth Greenberg's team shot just 35 percent from the floor in falling to 2 and 7 in the ACC.

  3. Ehsan will see Saturday's game from a different perspective

COLLEGE PARK — Maryland fans no longer get to shout out Rob Ehsan's name in pregame introductions as they once did, extending the first syllable so it came out "EEEEE-SAHN." The 29-year-old was a popular assistant coach and important recruiter...

  5. Teel Time: First 0-2 ACC start in six years doesn't bode well for Virginia Tech

Looking at Virginia Tech’s basketball schedule this preseason, a 3-0 ACC start seemed beyond plausible if not necessary, presuming the Hokies harbored NCAA tournament aspirations. Tuesday’s 63-59 home loss to Florida State – I watched...

  7. North Carolina hands Virginia Tech fourth consecutive loss, 82-68

Virginia Tech had its largest lead, and Cassell Coliseum rocked. Erick Green had just made a 3-pointer, the Hokies’ ninth of this Thursday evening, and Tech led eighth-ranked North Carolina by eight points early in the second half. Then the Tar...

  9. Teel Time: Virginia Tech's Greenberg blames himself for Finney-Smith's shooting slump

On Virginia Tech’s first possession against Duke on Thursday, freshman Dorian Finney-Smith drove from the right wing against Josh Hairston. The burst was reminiscent of his all-star career at Portsmouth’s Norcom High, which Finney-Smith led to...

  11. Teel Time: Virginia Tech tests its Duke "philosophy" Thursday at Cassell

Virginia Tech’s basketball program is 3-8 against Duke since joining the ACC. Sounds rather grim until you consider how the rest of the conference has fared against Mike Krzyzewski’s Blue Devils. Over the same span, since the 2004-05 season...

  13. Teel Time: Virginia playing historically stingy defense this basketball season

Maybe Harrison Barnes’ NBA skills or Deividas Dulkys’ long-range jumpers will crack Virginia’s defense. Or perhaps the Cavaliers will encounter Kentucky, Missouri or the Oklahoma City Thunder in postseason.

  15. Teel Time: Virginia Tech, Virginia set new scoring depths, defensive heights

Please excuse the lag time, but squinting through the record-book agate type in the wake of last night’s Virginia Tech-Virginia basketball game was a task for fresher eyes this morning. As you might expect, the Hokies’ 47-45 victory at John...

  17. Teel Time: North Carolina's Kendall Marshall on record assist pace entering game at Virginia Tech

Confession: I didn’t think Kendall Marshall would be THIS good at North Carolina. Watching him play summer ball with Boo Williams’ Hampton Roads team, he just seemed too one-dimensional, an exceptional passer who could not score.

  21. Virginia Tech holds off Clemson 67-65

    Daily Press
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- For all the heartbreaking losses, Virginia Tech finally came out on the plus side. Jarell Eddie scored 15 points and Dorian Finney-Smith had 12 on Saturday, and Virginia Tech squandered almost all of a big second-half lead and...
