1. Lawmaker To Underwood: "Stick To Singing"

<span style="font-size: small;">Carrie Underwood has responded to a suggestion made byTennessee State Representative Andy Holt that she should stick to singing instead of politics and lawmaking. At issue is the Livestock Cruelty Prevention Act, known as the Ag-Gag Bill to critics like the country singer, the ASPCA and the Humane Society of the United States. Underwood fired first on April 18 when she tweeted her reaction to the passing of the bill in Tennessee. It would require anyone with recorded images of animal abuse to submit the unedited footage to officials within 48 hours of the event. “Shame on TN lawmakers for passing the Ag Gag bill,” the singer said. “If (Tenn.) Gov. Bill Haslam signs this, he needs to expect me at his front door. Who’s with me? Underwood has been praised for speaking out by animal rights groups and by other country singers like Wynonna Judd. Holt fired back at her however, asking “Have you read the bill? I assume not. You are only going off your HSUS talking points. Use logic, not emotion.” He then told WSMV-TV that, “I would say that if Carrie Underwood will stick to singing, I’ll stick to lawmaking.” Gov. Haslam has not signed the bill yet, so it remains to be seen if Underwood will follow up on her threat. The worry is abuse will not be reported in time for authorities to take action. The superstar has made waves in recent years with comments on politics or society. Last year she announced her support of gay marriage, which left many fans applauding while many were upset.

  5. Underwoood Does Not Relate to Nashville

<span style="font-size: small;">When it comes to Hayden Panettiere’s Nashville character “Juliette Barnes,” one country singer denies a resemblance. In the February issue of Allure, Carrie Underwood tells the magazine, “I’m not like that at all.” She thinks the show is “juicy” but adds, “I hope not everybody thinks that everything goes down like that in Nashville, and we’re evil.” Hayden recently told reporters that Carrie’s stage presence was an inspiration for her role. Carrie likes to live a normal life, which means even splitting household chores with her husband Mike Fisher. During her interview with Allure, Carrie also cleared up her view on gay marriage. The singer is “in favor of acceptance” and adds, “It's my place to love and to show God's love to other people, even if they don't live a life like I live. So that's where I'm coming from." Carrie’s issue of Allure hits newsstands on Tuesday (1/22).

  9. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are Expecting their First Child

<span style="font-size: small;">Congratulations are in order for Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard: Sources close to the couple have confirmed that they're expecting their first child in the spring. "They're so excited -- they're both ecstatic. They can't wait to become parents," a friend tells People. "Kristen had a little bit of morning sickness early on but she just started shooting the second season of 'House of Lies' and is feeling great now." This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as Bell told Larry King back in August that having kids before marriage "really doesn't bother us." After all, Shepard and Bell could have a while to wait if they wanted to hold off on children until after they tie the knot. Though the couple has been engaged for nearly three years, they have said they aren't going to actually get married until same-sex marriage is legal in California.

<span style="font-size: small;">Anne Hathaway married her longtime love, Adam Shulman, in September, and the actress wants to help make sure all couples have the right to experience their own fairytale wedding. Other charities receiving funds from Anne reportedly include the American Cancer Society, The Girl Effect and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
