  1. Tangled web for flooding victim

<strong>Q: I own a 2010 Toyota Venza. My entire car floods from what the Toyota dealer tells me is caused by a spider crawling up into my A/C drain and building a nest. The nest blocks the so water overflows into my car. The water is rug deep 0.5 to 1 inch and totally saturates everything. To cost of the repair and change of rugs etc. is $2,700 each time this occurs. This has happened to me twice now I feel that this problem can be corrected. If Toyota would put a piece of net or nylon over the opening or use a valve that lets water out but doesn't let anything else in. My dealer is of the same mind. He says he gets a few of these types of problems a month. I just got off the phone with Toyota Corporate office regarding this case (which I first logged a year ago). I have heard nothing from them since last year and their representative tells me I shouldn't expect to hear from them. They don't care if they lose a customer. They don't care if I sue them. They just don't care. I told the case manager that Toyota should reimburse me for these two incidents (total is now up to $5,600 on a car a purchased 1.5 years ago.) The answer is &quot;Definitely not, Toyota doesn't do that."</strong>

  3. Siphoning gas is harder than it looks

Q: I have 125,000 miles on my 2004 Toyota Sienna and have not needed to replace the rear brakes. The pads still look good. I am worried that my front brakes are doing all the braking. Is this a problem and should I be concerned? — J.P., La Grange,...

  5. Dealer claims oil changes due twice as often

Q: I have had experiences with Volkswagen dealers where I was told that oil and filter changes are due every 5,000 miles, but according to the factory manual, the oil and filter should be changed every 10,000 miles. My daughter has a 2007 VW Rabbit and...

  7. Simple solution to wipers conundrum

  9. Can struts stand up to 170,000 miles?

Q: I just bought a 1998 Lexus LS400 with 170,000 well-cared for miles. The suspension seems soft. Lexus checked it by doing the "bounce" test and said it was fine. But I think 170k is beyond the lifespan of any coil/strut combination and am guessing I...

  13. Car care: Spring tuneup for your car

It was a long winter. Shorter days, cooler weather and pavement potholes may have taken their toll on you &mdash; and an even bigger toll on your car. As flowers bloom and trees grow, it's a good time to give your car a spring cleaning and thorough checkup before it endures the ravages of summer.
