3. Father's Day dining options

Time to show dear old dad some of the love you showed mom last month (you did remember mom last month, right?). Here are more than two dozen Father's Day dining options, including one event taking place the night before Father's Day, and one that will feed Dad on Monday too:

5. Needs more pow

I've had this "Groundhog Day" feeling lately. I keep running into new restaurants — Tavernita, Nellcote — in which generally intelligent and well-executed food is presented in a cocktails-driven, loud and pulsating nightclub atmosphere.

9. Go alfresco

Summer's here, and the time is right for eating in the street. Or near the street. Or in a bottle-service cabana high above the street.
Summer's here, and the time is right for eating in the street. Or near the street. Or in a bottle-service cabana high above the street. Chicagoans love outdoor-dining season, all the more so because of its short duration. There are precious few days in...

11. C'est la Vie?

The fact that chef Paul Virant and I share the same monogram shouldn't confuse anybody, although years back the chef sent me a letter he received from some luckless job applicant who, instead of writing "Paul Virant" in the salutation, used my name instead.

I have this problem. I made more New Year's Eve reservations than I can use. More than 100 of them, actually.

15. Back to the future with Expo Chicago

Recapturing past glories while moving forward can be a tricky business, but that's what the inaugural Expo Chicago is attempting to do as it launches next week in a familiar location for a Chicago art fair: Navy Pier.

21. 2012 bar and restaurant review: Highs, lows and delicious trends

When it comes to adventures in dining and drinking, Chicago definitely delivered this year. Hot chefs expanded their empires with new restaurants. New words made their way into our nightlife vocabulary. And, of course, there were doughnuts. And pie. And then more doughnuts. Here's a look back at 2012 and all the trends, talkers, highs and lows that came with it. Hope you're hungry!
