1. Breaking down Sunday's Ravens-Chargers game with San Diego Union-Tribune's Michael Gehlken

Every week, I hope to bring you a quick Q&A with someone who covers the Ravens’ opponent that week. The Ravens left for the West Coast on Friday and play the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, so I reached out to Michael Gehlken, the Chargers beat writer for the San Diego Union-Tribune, to chat about Sunday’s game.

  7. Scouting Report: Ravens vs. Steelers

RAVENS PASSING GAME: Much has been made of quarterback Joe Flacco's struggles on the road, but he's beaten the Steelers with late drives in his last regular season visit to Heinz Field. He's also coming off a four-touchdown (three passing, one rushing) performance against the Oakland Raiders where wide receiver Jacoby Jones and tight ends Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson returned to the game plan. The pressure will be on tackles Kelechi Osemele and Michael Oher to give Flacco time to throw downfield.

  9. No competition for Lysacek before nationals

Evan Lysacek’s return to competition will not come before January's U.S. Championships, and his appearance there presumes enough of a recovery from a groin injury sustained 2 1/2 months ago to skate full programs.

  13. Ravens news, notes and opinions

As we await a week filled with speculation about Ben Roethlisberger’s playing status for Sunday’s AFC North showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, it’s pretty remarkable that the latest chapter in this rivalry could be played without Roethlisberger, Hines Ward and Ray Lewis on the field. It will be the first time since the final game of the 2007 regular season when none of the three have been in the game. That day, Lewis was sidelined with hand and back injuries while Roethlisberger and Ward were rested for the playoffs. That being said, I think it would be foolish to count out Roethlisberger from this game until Steelers coach Mike Tomlin officially declares him out. I think we’ve all seen this movie before with Roethlisberger to jump to any conclusions.

  17. Boys Athlete of the Week: John Myers, Perry Hall, football

The senior hit a 50-yard field goal as time expired to give the Gators a 31-28 victory over Hereford, their first win over the Bulls in four years. Myers had not kicked in two weeks after suffering a groin injury, but with his backup struggling, he also kicked three extra points before hitting the game-winner. Also a linebacker, he had 21 tackles, including nine solo tackles in the season finale for the Gators (6-4). In seven games, Myers was 2-for-3 on field goals, also kicking a 37-yarder. He hit 24 of 27 extra points, and 25 of his 31 kickoffs were touchbacks. He also had 121 tackles, a sack and an interception and ran 39 times for 279 yards and five touchdowns. Myers has a 3.6 GPA and hopes to play football in college.
