1. Q&A: 'Not Fade Away' star John Magaro

One of 2012's best movies came and went without a shred of the attention it deserves, and it’s not as if the film's some obscure, subtitled documentary only a niche audience would see anyway.

  5. Directors detail their films' crucial scenes

For most directors, there is usually one moment in their film that brings it all together while they are shooting — or sometimes before production has even started — one scene that unlocks key relationships among the characters or clicks so well the director knows the film as a whole is going to work. Or sometimes it depicts in just a minute or two the whole point of the film. The Envelope talked with five directors with films out this year who experienced just such a moment.

  7. Our Pick: The Rascals at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester

In the late '60s the Rascals (a.k.a. the Young Rascals) gave us songs like "Good Lovin'," "People Got To Be Free," "Groovin'" and "A Beautiful Morning," and they'll be reuniting with their original lineup every day this Thursday through Saturday to play them for you at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester. The show will be part theatrical and it's called Once Upon a Dream. It'll tell the band's story via clips of early footage, narration and acting, and it's produced and directed by Steven Van Zandt of the E Street Band. But don't worry, it's still a real live Rascals show too, and the Thursday performance will be the first public appearance by the band in 40 years (they played a private benefit in 2010 and were joined onstage by Van Zandt and Bruce Springsteen). If you're all booked up this weekend, they'll also be playing next Thursday through Saturday.
