1. Antique-hunting in Arezzo, Italy

Prayerful angels carved from oak, grinning terra-cotta cherubs and gold pocket watches with time on their hands. All are stacked on the cobblestones of Arezzo's Piazza Grande.

3. The story of the Oscars

While it's true that there's only so much anyone can say about the Oscars, remember it can be said again and again. As a reader (and writer), I know by now that there are 10 abiding Oscar stories. Here they are, all in a single article: The history...

5. A 'below-the-line' Oscar winner

Gene Allen's home on the Balboa Peninsula offers so much to delight the eye that it's easy to hide a small object inside it.
Gene Allen's home on the Balboa Peninsula offers so much to delight the eye that it's easy to hide a small object inside it. Even an Academy Award. The longtime Newport Beach resident, who lives in a condo overlooking the Rhine Channel, doesn't make...

7. Oscars 2013: At nominees lunch, a relaxed vibe and a surprise DJ

Ben Affleck shared his tips for how to win an Oscar pool. Steven Spielberg hoisted an elaborate floral centerpiece off his table so he could better see his fellow lunch guests (including the youngest lead actress nominee, Quvenzhané Wallis). And 66-year-old uber-producer Frank Marshall ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") deejayed the whole affair.

9. 'To Rome With Love'

Woody Allen has had considerable success using foreign locales, certainly recently with "Midnight in Paris," and he takes that approach again with this enjoyable comedy that set several stories in Italy. Writer-director Allen himself plays an opera...

11. VOD Spotlight: Woody Allen’s “To Rome With Love” brings another all-star cast to the “Eternal City”

13. Film review: Woody Allen's 'Rome' is good but can't top 'Paris'

In “To Rome with Love,” his latest feature — roughly No. 42, depending on how you count — the prolific Woody Allen continues his long European vacation. In 2005, he went to London to make “Match Point” and received his best reviews in a decade. (Check out a list of his previous 10 films, and you'll see what I mean.) In 2008, his Spanish outing, “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” was even better received; and last year's “Midnight in Paris” still better than that, becoming his highest-grossing film ever and earning him his first Oscar since “Hannah and Her Sisters” in 1986.

17. Penelope Cruz happy for Woody Allen reunion in 'To Rome with Love'

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. The first time Penelope Cruz worked with Woody Allen she won an Oscar. So, it's no wonder that she jumped at the opportunity to play a hooker in his latest effort, "To Rome with Love."

19. 'To Rome With Love' review: Woody Allen's European tour needs a detour

*1/2 (out of four)
*1/2 (out of four) Woody Allen’s character in “To Rome with Love” feels inadequate if he’s not working, whether or not he has any quality ideas. Ah, the veteran writer-director knows himself so well. This is such minor Allen, who...

23. 'Miss Holocaust Survivor' -- honoring history or cheapening it?

World Now
To some, “Miss Holocaust Survivor” sounded like the ultimate triumph -- crowning and championing a woman who had suffered the horrors of the Holocaust. To others, the idea of invoking Nazi terrors in the shallow setting of a beauty pageant was...
