1. Mason Says "Dark Side Of The Moon" Could've Been Better

<span style="font-size: small;">Could one of the greatest albums in the history of rock and roll have been better? That’s what one of the men who played on it thinks. Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason says The Dark Side of the Mooncould have been improved up, saying, “It would have been great to have played [Dark Side] live a number of times and then recorded it. I think we would have sequenced it differently. It’s not only what you play, but where you play it…that could have changed.” Mason’s remarks came during a press conference to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the album at Abbey Road studios.

<span style="font-size: small;">Pink Floyd‘s legendary 1973 album, ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ is one of 25 recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress. The record received the highest number of public nominations among this year’s class. In the release accompanying the announcement, ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ is called “an example of brilliant, innovative production in service of the music.” They go on to cite the harmonies of David Gilmour and Richard Wright, as well as the successful integration of Roger Waters‘ interviews of the studio staff into the album’s concept. 5. Dixie Chick Uncertain About Return To Country

<span style="font-size: small;">Natalie Maines will reunite with The Dixie Chicks to perform at Canadian country music festival Calgary Stampede this summer. CMT caught up with Natalie recently to ask her how she’s feeling about country music, after years of tension with some of the genre’s fans. “You know what? It’s, it’s kinda like going back to your abusive husband. I’m just not feeling it I’m sorry.” Natalie plans to release a solo album, co-produced by singer-songwriter Ben Harper. The title track, “Mother,” is a Pink Floyd cover and sets the tone for what Natalie says is something very different from her Chicks music. Look for that one to hit stores on May 7th.

  7. Waters Rules Out Pink Floyd Reunion

<span style="font-size: small;">Roger Waters has emphatically ruled out a Pink Floyd reunion once and for all – saying the band “was over” in 1985 when he left. In recent years relations between him and surviving members David GIlmour and Nick Mason have thawed to the point where all three appeared during a performance of Waters’ The Wall in 2011. But that’s as far as it goes, says the former mainman. He says: “I can’t. I left Pink Floyd for very good reasons, and it was the right and proper thing to do. It was over in in 1985 – and it’s still over.” But he admits: “I’m having dinner with Nick tonight. He’d jump back in a heartbeat.” Despite thinking about retiring after the first round of The Wall shows, Waters has found himself staging more and more performances, with a series of massive open-air editions due this year.
