  1. Bruce Springsteen Comes to the XL Center This Thursday

The Dylan of Asbury Park, N.J. returns to Hartford on Thursday with his Wrecking Ball Tour, currently demolishing arenas nationwide. The late saxophonist Clarence Clemons, an integral part of Springsteen's (pictured) E Street Band for decades, may no longer be with us, but his nephew, Jake Clemons, fills the Big Man's generous shoes on this tour. Joining him are E Street Band stalwarts like guitarist Stevie Van Zandt, singer Patti Scialfa (Mrs. Springsteen), bassist Gary Tallent, guitarist Nils Lofgren and drummer Max Weinberg. They'll be surrounded by 11 additional players (including Clemons). It's a really big show, long and full of energy, and you'll know most of the repertoire. And I guaranteed that Bruce, now 63, will expend more energy than you've seen.

  11. U.S. workers are not a lazy bunch

Perhaps the best news I've heard in this dreary year is that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are gearing up for another tour. We need the Boss more than ever, in part because few of our leaders are extolling the American worker.
