3. David Bowie, Justin Timberlake are stars of pop music's spring

The winter hibernation is nearing its end. Bleary-eyed musicians are crawling out of their windowless studios after months — and in some cases, years — of isolated dream-capturing. The bottomless espresso cup awaits, and a queue next to the stereo is stacked high with new sounds.

5. Five reasons why Heat are hottest

Sunday notes: With Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh at ease, it has been easy for the Heat recently. Also: Knicks admit mistakes vs. Heat; updates on Harrellson, Curry; J.J.'s shrinking flagrant.
The best way to put to rest any talk (OK, any Shaq talk) about a potentially tainted championship? Follow it up with the longest winning streak in team history, in what could turn into the best regular season in the franchise's 25 seasons. And...

Even if you're Tommy Lee, releasing pictures of your junk (intentionally or not) is never a plus in the musical credibility column.

Even if you're Tommy Lee, releasing pictures of your junk (intentionally or not) is never a plus in the musical credibility column. So it's no surprise that off-stage incidents like that progressively turned Pete Wentz into much more than the bassist...

9. New Orleans hums with Super Bowl and Mardi Gras

— In a city where even funerals turn into parties, New Orleans rarely lacks for an excuse to strike up the band, boil up some crayfish and swirl together a daiquiri.

University of Illinois-Chicago assistant professor Roger Reeves may have just won one of the biggest awards an American writer could hope to receive--a $25,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts--but when he was younger, he didn't know he could pursue poetry professionally.

21. G-Eazy's musical education is an ongoing process

A few years ago, Gerald Gillum, the rapper otherwise known as G-Eazy, toured as the opening act for Drake during a break from his classes at Loyola University in New Orleans. Drake's people wanted him to stay on for some extra dates, but Gillum had to ask his professors first. "Of course! You simply must go," some said. "Who is Drake?" wondered others. "I was fortunate to have teachers that were flexible with allowing me to miss more class than I was supposed to be able to, for the sake of being able to tour," G-Eazy remembers. "I got permission from all my teachers except one, who said if I missed one more class I (would fail). At the time, it was one of my last semesters, and I'd come that far, and I think if I had failed one more class I would be on academic probation and lose my scholarship. So I didn't really have an option. I had to go back to school and sit there in that stupid class."

23. Grammys 2013: The awards week in parties

Musicians — and the people who work closely with them — really know how to party. That’s why Grammys night, unlike other high-end awards nights like the Oscars or Emmys, usually means one thing: unadulterated decadence. Actors hate to be seen acting rowdy, but musicians pride themselves on it. The parties started Tuesday and lasted until the wee hours Sunday.
