After a strong finish last year with five Grammy wins, the trio didn’t have their hopes up for winning this year.“We did think it was gonna be Taylor’s night. The trio has a lot of TV time lined up over the next week with appearances on the <em>Today </em>show, <em>The </em><em>Ellen DeGeneres</em><em> Show</em>, <em>The Tonight Show with </em><em>Jay Leno</em>, <em>CBS Sunday Morning</em> and <em>Saturday Night Live</em>. Lady A’s Dave Haywood says they don’t mind staying busy and can’t wait for <em>Own the Night</em> to be released. <em>“We’re workaholics, I think, all of us. Man, we were ready to have new stuff out there. I mean, almost before “Need You Now” was released, we were working on new material and so we’ve had these new songs written for a while. Lady A’s Dave Haywood gives some insight into the beginnings of the album’s #1 single, “We Owned the Night.” “Well, we wrote that with Dallas Davidson and actually started that on the mandolin, which we've never started writing a song on the mandolin before. We were out on the road and Dallas was like, 'You play mandolin right Dave?' I was like, 'Yeah. But I mean, you can't write a song on the mandolin.' But we grabbed it and tried it. And gosh, I feel like within 30 minutes had a lot of the song structure laid out."
