1. Cooper Considers Classic Covers Compilation

<span style="font-size: small;">He’s way past 18, but Alice Copper will look back on his youth for inspiration for his next studio album, likely to be a compilation of classic rock covers. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member told Billboard, “We do a thing in our show, which is a tribute the Hollywood Vampires, my drinking club. And it was Keith Moon, John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Micky Dolenz – a very eclectic bunch of drunks. I just kind of said, ‘We’ve never done a covers album, let’s think about that.’ So [longtime producer Bob] Ezrin and I are kind of bouncing it around right now.”

  5. Jagger Named Most Stylish

Mick Jagger has been named the most stylish rock star of all time by lifestyle website Complex. He leads their top 50 list ahead of Prince, David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, Sid Vicious and Keith Richards. Complex say of Jagger: “Hands-down one of the best-dressed musicians of all-time, he definitely set the bar for flamboyant frontmen. From his crazy stage antics to his bad boy edge, his style reflected his personality perfectly: it was something that needed to be tamed, but functioned best when it was wild. “Even today, he wears silk scarves and suits with more rakish appeal than most men – and he’s pushing 70.” John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, David Byrne and Alice Cooper make the top 20 while, further down the list, Slash, Keith Moon, Lemmy, Johnny Rotten, Freddie Mercury, Billy Gibbons and Axl Rose appear.

  7. Forthcoming Film 'IMAGINE' Based on True Story of Letter From Lennon

Imagine being a young, aspiring musician who receives a letter of encouragement penned by John Lennon. The problem is, the letter doesn’t get delivered to you until over 30 years after the late Beatle wrote it. That’s the true story of the real-life Steve Tilston that the upcoming film Imagine is based on. In 1971, Tilston was a British musician worried about succumbing to the tawdry downside of fame. Lennon read an interview with the young musician and proceeded to write him a letter offering advice. Sadly, Tilson never got the letter, and didn’t know of its existence until 2005. Screenwriter Dan Fogelman massages that premise, creating Danny Collins, a rock icon who turned into exactly what Tilston feared he would become. Al Pacino will play Collins in the film, which begins shooting this spring.

  9. Yoko Blamed Paul for Beatles Breakup

<span style="font-size: small;">Yoko Ono is often blamed for breaking up the Beatles but in an interview Ono recorded back in 1987, she actually blamed Paul McCartney for the split. In the interview with industry exec Joe Smith, Ono said John Lennon was “feeling good about” the breakup, but admitted there was some tension in the band at the time. “Each one of them [was] getting independent. John, in fact, was not the first who wanted to leave the Beatles. [We saw] Ringo [Starr] one night with Maureen [Starkey Tigrett], and he came to John and me and said he wanted to leave. George [Harrison] was next, and then John,” she said. “Paul [McCartney] was the only one trying to hold the Beatles together. But the other three thought Paul would hold the Beatles together as his band. They were getting to be like Paul's band, which they didn't like." She also said that after the split there was some tension between her and John because the singer missed his bandmates and "expected all that to be replaced by me."

  11. Yoko Launches Lennon-Inspired Menswear Line

<span style="font-size: small;">Somehow it seems hard to believe John Lennon would have been behind this. Yoko Ono has just launched an avant-garde (what else!) to say the least clothing line called Fashions for Men 1969-2012 featuring jock straps, light-up bras, hoodies emblazoned with butt prints and pants with handprints on the crotch. The 79-year old Ono says she based the entire line on fashion sketches she gave her late husband before their 1969 wedding. Ono said, “I was inspired to create Fashions for Men amazed at how my man was looking so great. So, I made this whole series with love for his hot bod and gave it to him as a wedding present. You can imagine how he went wild and fell in love with me even more.” Check out the curious couture here.

  17. Tapes Of Beatles Talking About Elvis Are Sold

<span style="font-size: small;">A series of audio taped interviews with The Beatles, recorded the night after they met Elvis Presley for the first time, were recently sold at auction for $55,000. The recordings were made by DJ Jerry G. Bishop during the band’s 1965 summer tour and up until now were in the hands of an LA record executive. Discussing Elvis’ music in the 60s, Paul McCartney said, “Well, of course, since when I was 16, I've loved his records. We used to do a lot of his songs until we started doing our own … but I don't like the new stuff half as much – we told him that last night.” Added John Lennon, “We were asking him about just making movies, and not making any [personal] appearances. I think he enjoys making movies so much ... We couldn't stand not doing personal appearances – we get bored quickly." When asked if the two artists would ever do something together Lennon didn’t seem enthusiastic, saying, “None of us have ever liked those albums where they put two people together. I’d hate an album like that.” Check out this video.

  21. Paul Says Yoko Not Blame For Beatles Break-Up

<span style="font-size: small;">Paul McCartney has insisted Yoko Ono was not to blame for the Beatles split in 1970 – and says John Lennon would have left the band anyway. In an interview to mark his 70th birthday, to be broadcast next month, McCartney tells Sir David Frost: “When Yoko came along, part of her attraction was her avant-garde side, her view of things. “She showed him another way to be, which was very attractive to him. So it was time for John to leave. He was definitely going to. “She certainly didn’t break the group up – the group was breaking up.” Lennon wrote iconic track "Imagine" thanks to conceptual artist Ono’s influence, says McCartney. “I don’t think he would have done that without Yoko, so I don’t think you can blame her for anything.” Looking back on one of the most controversial band splits in rock’n'roll history, he adds: “It wasn’t that bad a thing.” And he says the Beatles left “a neat body of work.”
