1. Former Allman Bros. Guitarist Dies

<span style="font-size: small;">Former Allman Brothers guitarist ‘Dangerous’ Dan Toler has died at the age of 65. The southern rock veteran had been fighting motor neurone disease, which causes difficulty in moving, swallowing, speaking and even breathing. Despite being confined to a wheelchair he’d continued to play and perform, until his illness made it impossible in recent months. His friends had arranged a number of benefit shows to help with his medical bills. The musician joined Dickey Betts and Great Southern in the mid 1970s before joining the Allmans alongside Betts and his brother David ‘Frankie’ Toler in 1979. He appeared on their Enlightened Rogues, Reach For The Sky and Brothers Of The Road albums. He later played with the Gregg Allman Band alongside Frankie, recording I’m No Angel in 1986 and Just Before The Bullets Fly two years later. After a stint in the Renegades of Southern Rock he formed the Townsend Toler Band with John Townsend in 2009.

  3. Greg Allman: Lie Was Last Thing He Said To Duane

<span style="font-size: small;">A lie about stealing drugs was the last thing Gregg Allman said to his late brother Duane, the longtime Allman Brothers Band singer/keyboardist reveals in his new memoir My Cross to Bear. In the book, Allman says he denied stealing cocaine from his brother’s house the morning before Duane died in a motorcycle accident in 1971. Allman writes, “That last thing I ever said to my brother was a f***ing lie, man. That was the last time I spoke to my brother. I have thought of that lie every day of my life, and I just keep recrucifying myself for it. But the thing is, I never got the chance to tell him the truth.”

  5. Gregg Allman Engaged to 24-year-old Girlfriend

<span style="font-size: small;">NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Gregg Allman is getting married for the seventh time. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member has told several interviewers this week that he's engaged to his 24-year-old girlfriend, Shannon Williams, and Allman's publicist and manager confirmed the news Friday morning. Allman talked about the unexpected love he felt for Williams in an interview with The Associated Press earlier this year for a story about his memoir, "My Cross to Bear," but admitted he was leery about taking the relationship further because of his past difficulties in his love life. But Allman told Howard Stern, Piers Morgan and a SiriusXM town hall audience this week that he's taken the relationship to the next stage. Little is known about Williams, who entered the 64-year-old rock pioneer's life after a liver transplant and a run of health difficulties. Allman told the AP in a love-struck voice he met her while in Florida on Friday, Jan. 13, and "I am totally in love." Allman's failed marriages make up a significant part of "My Cross to Bear," a best-seller after its release May 1. He offers a rare glimpse into his private life, detailing the rise and collapse of his relationship with Cher, among other topics. It's clear his failed relationships haunt him. He told the AP he has a distrust of the institution of marriage and has been left with the feeling that few, if any, of his wives were actually deeply in love with him. No date has been set for the marriage.

  7. Memorable CMA Moments

<span style="font-size: small;">BRAD PAISLEY & CARRIE UNDERWOOD OPEN WITH A SONG OR THREE! Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood lived up to their promise not to pull any punches, starting the show by tweaking the Hank Williams, Jr. classic to “Are You Ready for an Awards Show?” However, Carrie was quick to nix it, due to recent ESPN drama, so the two tried their own take on “Family Tradition,” with a slight change to “Hank, why do you drink? Before an interview. Why do you roll smoke? Before an interview.” The song was interrupted, though, when Bocephus himself entered to a standing ovation and joined the two to finish the “All My Rowdy Friends” CMA Awards remix. Then, the co-hosts celebrated their fourth year hosting with gifts – Brad got the Faith Hill Barbie; Carrie, the Tim McGraw – and proceeded to have the dolls makeout with one another, while a blushing Faith and laughing Tim watched from the audience. To start the awards presentation, Brad and Carrie introduced Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet, who insisted on one more song, ala Randy Travis, “I’m Gonna Love You for 72 Days, Amen.” Then, using the forever bench mark set by Kim Kardashian’s 72-day marriage, the duo converted country marriages to “forevers” with Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s 179 day marriage adding up to almost two “forevers.”
