1. Def Leppard Still At War With Former Label

<span style="font-size: small;">Frontman Joe Elliott says Def Leppard’s former record label, Universal, should treat the band with more respect because “we built their penthouse sushi bar”. Leppard are re-recording as much of their back catalog as possible after failing to reach an agreement with Universal over digital releases. And last month the band cut five acoustic songs performed during their Rock Of Ages tour for a medley released to iTunes. “We’re trying to wrestle back our career and ownership of these songs,” said Elliott in an interview in the latest issue of Classic Rock. “They [Universal] own the originals, we’re at loggerheads with them over the digital rights. And as long as they’re playing silly buggers we’ll just keep recording them again.” The singer continued: “Until we can come to some kind of humane conclusion to this ridiculous stand-off, we’re going to say: ‘F*** you!’ Elliott said Universal wouldn’t be the major player it is today without the help of Leppard’s multi-million-selling releases. “Between us and Bon Jovi we f****** built that company,” he insisted.

  5. Def Leppard's Elliott Addresses Encore Hysteria

<span style="font-size: small;">Fans at last week’s Def Leppard concert in Saratoga Springs, NY were left wanting more after the group failed to return for the obligatory encore. In an attempt to “nip in the bud any Twitter/Facebook rumors,” singer Joe Elliott took to the band’s website to explain he was suffering from “a hacking cough which just ripped the hell out of my voice.” He added that “after struggling through ‘Sugar’ that I had to make a decision…do the encore and risk doing so much damage that we might have to cancel a bunch of shows, or blow out one song and sort out a doctor to have a look at me, which we did the following morning. The result being after a couple of cortisone shots, I seem to be mending quite nicely!”
