    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;"><span style="line-height: 150%;">INDY CAR DRIVER WITH COUNTRY CONNECTION DIES IN FIREY CRASH. </span><span style="line-height: 150%;">Indianapolis 500 </span><span style="line-height: 150%;">winner Dan Wheldon died on Sunday from injuries sustained in a major car crash that happened during the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Wheldon&rsquo;s car went airborne as the result of a 15-car pileup on Lap 13 of the race. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 33-year-old British driver became part of the country music family when Curb Records and Big Machine Label group backed Wheldon with a car sponsorship during his successful run at the Indy 500 earlier this year. After his win, Wheldon made appearances on stage at the CMA Music Festival and during the 2011 CMT Music Awards. Sunday was his 134<sup>th</sup> career start.</span></span>

  2. Jason Aldean Looking For New Songs

    Jason Aldean is back at #1 on the <em>Billboard</em> country charts with his album <em>My Kinda Party</em>.&nbsp;The record has produced two top-ten singles with &ldquo;My Kinda Party&rdquo; and &ldquo;Dirt Road Anthem,&rdquo; and a #1 hit with &ldquo;Don&rsquo;t You Wanna Stay&rdquo; featuring Kelly Clarkson.&nbsp;Though the album is still on top, Jason says he&rsquo;s already looking to the future.&nbsp; <em>&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve been listening to songs for a new record. So, uh&hellip;So, I&rsquo;ve got a bunch of demos right now that I&rsquo;m kinda listening to and&hellip;I&rsquo;ll start getting&rsquo; into that mode where I start just kinda focusing on finding songs for a new album and I don&rsquo;t really listen to much else other than that for a few months.&rdquo;&nbsp;</em>After a surprise appearance by rapper Ludacris during his performance of &ldquo;Dirt Road Anthem&rdquo; on the <em>2011 CMT Music Awards</em>, Jason decided to officially release the remix of the song, which is now available on <em>iTunes.</em>

  3. CMT Award Show Performers Get Boost

    Country artists who performed on the 2011 <em>CMT Music Awards</em> last Wednesday have seen a boost in sales of their music. According to <em>SoundScan</em>, four of the top five country singles were performed on the <em>CMT Music Awards</em> with Jason Aldean&rsquo;s &ldquo;Dirt Road Anthem&rdquo; claiming the #1 spot. Toby Keith, debuted his new single, &ldquo;Made In America&rdquo; on the show and it landed at an impressive #24 on the country digital track chart its first week. Downloads for Keith Urban&rsquo;s &ldquo;Long Hot Summer,&rdquo; which he performed on the awards, jumped 806%. Kid Rock saw the biggest gain in physical-album sales with a 34% jump for his latest, <em>Born Free</em>.

  4. Shania and Taylor To Open CMT Awards

    Shania Twain is teaming up with Taylor Swift for a <em>CMT Music Awards</em> opening country fans will never forget!&nbsp;The stars are set to open the show with a <em>Thelma &amp; Louise</em>-inspired video parody, complete with Shania and Taylor riding in a sky-blue vintage convertible, just like the one in the 1991 film starring Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis. <em>Glee</em> star Chord Overstreet makes a special appearance in the segment, which was shot Monday just south of Nashville.&nbsp;The segment will also feature host Kid Rock, Kenny Rogers, Donald Trump and comedian Ron White. Shania will also present during the awards, The <em>CMT Music Awards</em> air live tonight at 8PM Eastern on <em>CMT</em> and <em>CMT</em>.com.

  5. Lady A Talks New Album

    Lady Antebellum will release its third album, <em>Own the Night</em>, on September 13th. The project&rsquo;s first single, &ldquo;Just a Kiss,&rdquo; is the fastest-rising release of the trio&rsquo;s career. The band cleared its calendar after winning five <em>Grammys</em> in January to begin rehearsals for the album, bringing songs they had already written. Hillary Scott describes the collection as <em>&ldquo;nostalgic&rdquo;</em> and hopes that fans will pick up on the new project&rsquo;s vibe.&nbsp; <em>&ldquo;We just want that title, Own the Night, to carry over into our live shows like we want our fans, our audience to take ownership in the show and live in the moment and own the night, you know?&rdquo; </em>The album title comes from one of the new tracks, titled &ldquo;We Owned the Night.&rdquo; Lady Antebellum will perform &ldquo;Just a Kiss&rdquo; at the <em>CMT Music Awards </em>tonight on <em>CMT</em> and <em>CMT.com</em>.

    Laura Bell Bundy will host the 2011 <em>CMT Music Awards Video of the Year Special</em> on <em>CMT </em>on Saturday at 2PM Eastern. In the one-hour special, Laura Bell will present the 10 nominees vying in the <em>Video of the Year</em> category at the 2011 <em>CMT Music Awards</em>.
