  2. Underwood Praises Julie Andrews

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">Carrie Underwood has found a new way to spread music to fans, as she will be playing the iconic &ldquo;Maria Von Trapp,&rdquo; in NBC&rsquo;s live broadcast of The Sound of Music. Julie Andrews played the legendary role in the famous 1965 film, and she is someone Carrie idolized at a young age. Carrie has yet to meet Julie, but she hopes to take what she has learned from her, and create her own vision of the character. &ldquo;At some point I would love to meet her, just because she is someone I grew up watching and listening too. But, no one can touch her, I am not her and I will never be her. She holds such an iconic place in so many people&rsquo;s hearts. I think it is really important for me to read the script, watch other musicals and kind of get into the whole musical space verses the movie space &ndash; which she was so wonderful in.&rdquo; In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Julie says she will &ldquo;endorse everything&rdquo; about The Sound of Music broadcast, and &ldquo;would love to know Carrie!&rdquo; The three-hour live remake of The Sound of Music will air in late 2013 on NBC.</span>

The line&rsquo;s creative director, Don O&rsquo;Neill, and his team, worked around the clock to incorporate thousands of Swarovski crystals onto the bodice &ndash; according toPeople. The 4 foot 5 inch-wide projection dress was approved by Carrie, her stylist and the video team behind the special effects, which Carrie admits took a lot of hard work! &ldquo;They can do a lot of amazing things with projectors these days &ndash; and we had a dress specially made. But yeah, they can do all that stuff and I know it took - I had a certain place to stand and they made sure it wasn&rsquo;t going off around me. It took a lot of precision &ndash; I have a lot of great people.&rdquo; It seems like Carrie certainly impressed O&rsquo;Neill, as he tweeted that &ldquo;there couldn&rsquo;t be a more perfect opportunity to fuse light in a literal sense with one of [his] own gowns.&rdquo; He added that Carrie was the first celebrity to wear a Theia dress four years ago when his company launched.</span>
