1. Underwood & Hubby - Run-In With The Law

Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher had a minor run-in with the law! After Carrie’s performance at the CMA Music Festival, Nashville police pulled the couple over for speeding according to Carrie’s Twitter feed. Mike was driving as Carrie rode shot-gun. It’s unclear if the two were ticketed, but Mike ironically tweeted earlier in the day about his two driving pet peeves - people who drive slowly in the fast lane and those who don’t creep into the middle of an intersection while waiting to turn left. Carrie made light of the incident as she later tweeted, “Ok…so, ‘Mr. I'm gonna star[t] a driving school in Nashville’ just got us pulled over for going 56 in a 45. Just sayin...”

  7. LBT Hosts CMA Music Festival

The four members of Little Big Town will collectively host ABC's 'CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock' broadcast when it airs later this summer. The group made the announcement via YouTube Thursday morning. They will take over after Luke Bryan and the Band Perry's Kimberly Perry co-hosted in 2012. Little Big Town has been a mainstay at the CMA Music Festival since 1999. It was called Fan Fair back then, and Kimberly Schlapman remembers playing one month after signing a record deal. They knew two songs and had one guitar. Each year they've come back, and so have their most loyal fans. Seeing old friends is part of what makes the annual celebration so special, they said. "It feels like the biggest gathering of country music fans in the world, and it is," Jimi Westbrook said. "People plan their vacations around that time, and it is all about one thing, the love of country music." According to the Country Music Association, an average of 71,000 people attended the festival each day in 2012. Filming for the broadcast will take place from June 6-9 at Nashville's LP Field. Confirmed performers include Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and many other big name country stars. The broadcast will air on Aug. 12 at 8PM ET on ABC, approximately one month earlier than last year's televised replay of the festival's highlights.

  15. People's Most Beautiful: Taylor, Tim & Carrie Make List

People magazine's latest issue reveals their picks for the Most Beautiful Celebrities in 2013, and a few of country music's biggest stars made the cut. Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Tim McGraw were each recognized for their stunning good looks, but like everyone else, they admit they haven't always felt secure with their own appearance. "I'm pretty pale," Taylor confesses to People (quote via Lancaster, Pa. radio station WIOV). "In high school, I was insecure and thought it'd be cool to go to a tanning bed. Now, I just let it look the way it looks." Carrie admits that even though she has graced magazine covers and often appears on best-dressed lists, it took finding her soul mate to accept her true beauty. "I've spent a fair share of money on creams and makeup to help minimize my scars," the songstress reveals. "Then I met [husband] Mike Fisher. He made me feel loved and beautiful ... scars and all." Tim, the husband of beautiful Faith Hill, credits keeping up a rigorous workout regime and abstaining from alcohol with helping him look his best, and still downplays his rugged good looks. "Thank God for country music," he jokes. "That's my reaction, because I sure wouldn't be picked standing on the street corner. It's a good thing I've got a guitar in my hand up under the lights." Reba McEntire, who at age 58 still turns heads, is also named in a special Beautiful at Every Age feature. People's Most Beautiful issue will be on newsstands April 26.

  17. Lawmaker To Underwood: "Stick To Singing"

Carrie Underwood has responded to a suggestion made byTennessee State Representative Andy Holt that she should stick to singing instead of politics and lawmaking. At issue is the Livestock Cruelty Prevention Act, known as the Ag-Gag Bill to critics like the country singer, the ASPCA and the Humane Society of the United States. Underwood fired first on April 18 when she tweeted her reaction to the passing of the bill in Tennessee. It would require anyone with recorded images of animal abuse to submit the unedited footage to officials within 48 hours of the event. “Shame on TN lawmakers for passing the Ag Gag bill,” the singer said. “If (Tenn.) Gov. Bill Haslam signs this, he needs to expect me at his front door. Who’s with me? Underwood has been praised for speaking out by animal rights groups and by other country singers like Wynonna Judd. Holt fired back at her however, asking “Have you read the bill? I assume not. You are only going off your HSUS talking points. Use logic, not emotion.” He then told WSMV-TV that, “I would say that if Carrie Underwood will stick to singing, I’ll stick to lawmaking.” Gov. Haslam has not signed the bill yet, so it remains to be seen if Underwood will follow up on her threat. The worry is abuse will not be reported in time for authorities to take action. The superstar has made waves in recent years with comments on politics or society. Last year she announced her support of gay marriage, which left many fans applauding while many were upset.

  19. Underwood Makes Wish Come True For Teen With Tumor

Carrie Underwood made a very special teenager’s dreams come true. Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Hayley Gort had the privilege of flying to Jacksonville, Fla., with friends and family to meet the popular country singer in person. Gort definitely earned the opportunity to have her dreams come true. After being diagnosed with a brain tumor on her pituitary gland, the 18-year-old Grand Rapids, Mich. native had to undergo several chemotherapy and radiation treatments. “The chemo was way worse than the radiation. Those two months weren’t very fun,” Haley Gort told Mlive. “I had to sit in a chair for three hours for three days straight hooked up with an IV and feeling like crap. Then for about a week after, I was nauseous and vomiting. I couldn’t keep food down and I lost my hair.” After two years of treatment, Gort was finally healthy enough to hop on an airplane with a group of her loved ones and fly to Florida to have her dreams come true. Make-A-Wish provided Gort and her cohort with a free flight and hotel, and the ‘Good Girl’ hitmaker donated backstage passes to her show. “I wouldn’t pick anyone else,” Haley Gort said Saturday, April 20, from her hotel room. “I really wanted to meet her.” Later that night, Gort finally got her chance. Underwood took time to pose for photos with the 18-year-old and her friends and family. “Best night of my life,” Gort tweeted that night. “I will never forget it! @CarrieUnderwood you don’t know how much that meant to me! #amazing.”

  21. Tennessee 'Ag Gag' Bill Infuriates Underwood

Both the Tennessee state House and Senate have approved the Animal Cruelty and Abuse bill, which declares that anyone who photographs or films video of acts of animal cruelty must turn their material in to police within 48 hours. While supporters argue this prevents animal cruelty, many animal advocacy groups are outraged. Nicknaming the legislation the "Ag Gag bill," they argue instead that it will deter investigations into animal abuse by reducing undercover videos and not giving those investigating enough time to collect substantial evidence. That's not to mention that it arguably goes against freedom of the press rights, as spelled out in the First Amendment, along with the risks this bill may pose to food safety issues. One celebrity in staunch opposition to the bill is animal lover, Carrie Underwood. "Shame on TN lawmakers for passing the Ag Gag bill. If Gov. Bill Haslam signs this, he needs to expect me at his front door. Who's with me?" the country superstar tweeted.
