  1. 'Shrek,' 'Hannah Montana' Lead Kids Choice Noms

    Zap2It.com
Miley Cyrus might have won last weekend's box office war, but a green ogre one-upped her with the kiddies. "Shrek the Third" took four nods, followed by "Hannah Montana" and its star with three for the upcoming Nickelodeon 21st Annual Kids Choice Awards....

  3. 'Roll Bounce'

Teen pictures in which kids square off in a competition form a genre unto themselves, yet the warm and wise "Roll Bounce" confounds all expectations. Writer Norman Vance Jr. and director Malcolm D. Lee dare to suggest that winning may not be everything, that a father-and-son relationship may actually be more important than a skate-off, and that it's possible to set a film in 1978 without drowning it in nostalgia and dated fads. "Roll Bounce" sports Afros and bell-bottoms yet doesn't overdo them and always has the feeling of happening in the here and now.

  7. Slight increase in Labor Day travel is forecast

    Sentinel Staff Writer
The announcement last week from AAA that 34.5 million Americans are expected to travel over Labor Day weekend has a downside. The number is higher than last year, when 34.2 million traveled 50 miles or more from home during the holiday. But the 0.9...

  9. 'Marie Antoinette'

Marie Antoinette has, in popular history, been accused of frivolity, irreverence and disdain for historical precedent. Sofia Coppola's indulgent, frothy biopic will be charged with precisely these same offenses. What more could a filmmaker ask?

  13. Royal lineage

When you are the third generation of a celebrated Hollywood family, when your father's an eminent director, people tend to underestimate you. It's been happening to Sofia Coppola all her life, and, frankly, it's fine by her.
